Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today lambasted Bharatiya Janata Party\u2019s parliamentarian Babul Supriyo at a public meeting in Ranigunj, saying the fallout of the BJP\u2019s win from this seat was the horrific riots.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere had been no riots here before the BJP won this seat,\u201d she said at a public meeting where Moon Moon Sen is the Trinamool Congress candidate.<\/p>\n
Banerjee said that the sitting MP from Asansol had no knowledge of Bengal\u2019s culture and manners. \u201cHe is always abusive. One cannot imagine the kind of language he uses. He has used abusive language even while referring to me. This is not the culture of Bengal,\u201d the Bengal CM said.<\/p>\n
Banerjee appealed to the people from the state\u2019s coal and industrial belt \u2013 a number of the electorate Hindi-speaking here who hail from other states \u2013 to vote out Babul Supriyo from Asansol.<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had addressed a meeting from this area to seek votes for Babul Supriyo a few days back and alleged that the state is dependent on its development on coal and sand mafia.<\/p>\n
On Friday, Banerjee retaliated, and attacked the PM and the sitting MP saying that the BJP was in control of coal mafia. \u201cThe thieves are screaming a lot to assert themselves,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She also alleged that illegal arms, money and people were being brought in from neighbouring Jharkhand to spread trouble in the region. \u201cLet them look at Jharkhand first, where they will perform badly. Instead, they are bringing in people and arms from there to spread trouble in our state and causing riots,\u201d Banerjee alleged.<\/p>\n
Asansol and Ranigunj area had witnessed violent communal clashes in March last year, in which one person was killed and two policemen were injured. The 16-year-old son of an imam was killed in the violence. However, despite losing his young son, the imam had appealed to people to restore peace, and that eventually helped prevent the violence from spreading.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
