West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee today took to Facebook to make clear her position on \u201cJai Shree Ram\u201d chants that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers have been using to \u201cgreet\u201d her, and what has infuriated her twice already.<\/p>\n
BJP workers have taken resort to the slogan twice in presence of the Trinamool Congress chief \u2013 once before the election and another time when she was on her way to North 24 Parganas on Friday \u2013 and she lost her cool both times. Yesterday, two of her cabinet colleagues were also \u201cgreeted\u201d with the same slogans when they visited a party office in North 24 Parganas.<\/p>\n
Banerjee on Sunday wrote on Facebook that she has \u201cno problem\u201d with any \u201cparticular slogan of political parties in their rallies, and for their party purpose\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery political party has their own slogan.\u00a0My party has Jai Hind<\/em>, Vande Mataram<\/em>. The Left has Inquilab Zindabad<\/em>. Others have different slogans. We respect each other,\u201d she wrote, adding, \u201cJai Sia Ram<\/em>, Jai Ram ji ki<\/em>, Ram naam Satya hai<\/em> etc have religious and social connotations. We respect these sentiments.\u201d<\/p>\n However, she added that the BJP was \u201cusing religious slogan Jai Sri Ram<\/em> as their party slogan in a misconceived manner by way of mixing religion with politics. We do not respect this forcible enforcement of political slogans on others in the name of so called RSS which Bengal never accepted.\u201d<\/p>\n She said it was a \u201cdeliberate attempt to sell hatred ideology through vandalism and violence which we must oppose together\u201d.<\/p>\n The West Bengal CM further wrote that some BJP supporters were trying to spread hatred through the media and fake videos, news and misinformation \u201cto create confusion\u201d.
