Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today said that she could sense that the country is moving towards a Presidential form of government.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to tell you \u2013 especially to all the educated people — that we are heading towards a presidential form of government, with one election, one leader, one political party and one emergency. Mark my words \u2013 remember I said it today,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Banerjee said, \u201cthe voices of the people are being gagged, political parties are being threatened, the media has been purchased and no one is being allowed to enter Kashmir. The government at the Centre is emptying the country\u2019s coffers.\u201d She said at a public meeting in Kolkata to mark the foundation day of the Trinamool Congress\u2019s youth wing, Chhatra Parishad.<\/p>\n
Banerjee alleged that central investigating agencies are \u201cthreatening\u201d in every sphere. Mentioning horse trading in Karnataka, she said that the next target was Bengal, as \u201cwe are the ones to fight\u2026 who raise voice against them\u201d. \u201cBangla ke dokhol korey nitey chaichhey<\/em> (They are trying to overpower Bengal),\u201d she said.<\/p>\n She said she was not afraid and ready to go to jail. \u201cToday, they are calling my brother, tomorrow they will call me. I will not bow down to BJP\u2019s communal politics,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Dilip Ghosh, reacting to Banerjee\u2019s comments, said that Banerjee had made such comments “out of fear\u201d. \u201cShe is scared and afraid of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). After seeing what has happened to P Chidambaram, she is afraid of arrest and arrest of many of her \u2018brothers\u2019 and so she is saying all this.
