A discussion on the matter took place in the state Assembly today after which the resolution was placed in the House.<\/p>\n<p>Implementation of the NRC in Assam on August 31, has left out 19 lakh people from the list, who are likely to be put into detention centres.<\/p>\n<p>All political parties, except the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) pleaded for a discussion on the issue in the Assembly. After Assam, there are possibilities of the NRC implementation in several other states including in West Bengal. Opposing the resolution, the BJP staged a walkout.<\/p>\n<p>The Trinamool Congress has decided to take up a state-wide agitation opposing NRC in Assam.
