The protestors started the rally at Hooghly\u2019s Singur on Thursday and started off from Howrah station towards the state administrative headquarters, Nabanna, today.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6529\" src=\"https:\/\/thebengalstory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/09\/left.rally1_-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"659\" height=\"371\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The protesters have accused police of throwing bricks at them from the rooftop first, to which \u201creacted\u201d by retaliating similarly. Within minutes, the clashes turned violent and police lathicharged on the rally. Tear gas shells were charged at the protesters and water cannon used to disperse them. A number of protesters in the rally were hurt.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6530\" src=\"https:\/\/thebengalstory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/09\/left.rally2_-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"666\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Some policemen were also injured. The protesters said that they had come for submitting a peaceful deputation before chief minister Mamata Banerjee, and that there was no need to use unnecessary force on them.
