A school in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, has allegedly removed the name of a rape survivor from the school register and asked her to stop going to school. The girl\u2019s father has been reported saying that when his daughter reached school on Saturday, she was told by the principal that her name had been struck off from he school register and she did not need to go to school anymore.<\/p>\n
The principal has however, told government officials that he had only asked the girl to stay home for a few days till the matter is resolved. The principal also claimed that it was not a state recognised school, but a private coaching institute with little infrastructure. The state authorities are also probing this aspect, and are looking at whether the school had the relevant clearances to function.<\/p>\n
District school inspector in Amamgarh, V.K Sharma was reported saying that a school cannot remove a student\u2019s name on such grounds. He said that a probe would be conducted on the allegations and action will be taken if proved to be true. The district magistrate has also ordered an inquiry.<\/p>\n
The minor was raped by two youths on September 18 when she was on her way to school. The men abducted her, raped her inside a moving vehicle and then left her on a road.
