The Second International Women\u2019s Short Film Festival \u2013 to be inaugurated by West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar and the First Lady \u2013 will be held at Kolkata\u2019s Rotary Sadan on September 28.<\/p>\n
The festival is being organised by the Green Tara Initiative in collaboration with Inner Wheel Club of Greater Tollygunge, Independent Film Council and Ahava Communications. It was held at Nandan last year.<\/span><\/p>\n The theme of the festival is to highlight women as an important pillar of society, women empowerment and gender equality.<\/span><\/p>\n An award ceremony will be held along with the film festival to honour some prominent women in their respective fields. Seven women will be awarded with the award this year \u2013 Bithi Chattopadhyay (poet), Dr. Sanjukta Dasgupta (academician), Somrita Ganguly (author), Dr. Ruchi Gupta (physician), Swastika Mukherjee (entrepreneur & environmentalist), Chayanika Chakraborty (author\/publisher) and Mamta Gupta (humanitarian). A special award will be given to the organisation Anti Hunger Squad Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n Seven films will be screened at the festival. These include Pesum Por Chithirame<\/i>\u00a0by Sabari Vasan, If they all met at Pushkin caf\u00e9<\/i> \u2013 a poetry film by Santasree Chaudhuri, Rickshaw Puller<\/i> by Saima Afreen, Onno Agamoni<\/i> (A Different Coming) \u2013 an experimental short film by Nikhilesh Dinda, Chelemanushi<\/i> \u2013 a Bangladeshi film by Saki Farzana, Sricharaneshu Maa<\/i> by Dhiman Saha, Ujanthali<\/i> by Som Chakravarty.<\/span><\/p>\n Among the film-makers is Santasree Chaudhuri, founder trustee of Green Tara Social Initiative and Chairperson of the IWSFF.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Last year, the festival was held in Nandan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":279,"featured_media":6737,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[21],"tags":[],"adace-sponsor":[],"class_list":["post-6736","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-gender"],"yoast_head":"\n
