A five-judge constitution bench of the Supreme Court of India today delivered its landmark verdict on the Ayodhya\u2019s Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit. Here are the five judges who delivered the verdict \u201cunanimously\u201d:<\/p>\n
The five judges are:<\/p>\n
CJI Ranjan Gogoi<\/strong> \u2013 Currently holding the post of Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi started his career in 1978 in Gauhati High Court. He later became the Chief Justice of Punjab & Haryana High Court. He was appointed a Supreme Court judge in 2012 and has ruled several high profile cases including that of the National Register of Citizens. He became the Chief Justice of India in 2018.<\/p>\n Justice S.A Bobde<\/strong> \u2013 He is the Chief Justice of India designate, and will take charge after Ranjan Gogoi retires on November 17. He had joined the Bombay High Court in 2000 as additional judge and was appointed to Supreme Court in 2013, a year after his predecessor Ranjan Gogoi. He has ruled important cases, including the BCCI case. A former Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, he will hold the post of CJI for 18 months before he retires.<\/p>\n Justice D Y Chandrachud<\/strong> \u2013 He has been the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court before being appointed to Supreme Court. He has ruled a number of landmark cases on human rights, gender, public interest litigation and criminal law. Some of his notable landmark rulings were the decriminalisation of same sex under section 377 and inclusion of right to privacy as a fundamental right. He is the son of the longest serving chief justice of India, Y.V. Chandrachud, who served the post for seven years.<\/p>\n Justice S Abdul Nazeer<\/strong> \u2013 Starting his career in 1983, he was a practising advocate in Karnataka High Court before being appointed an additional judge there in 2003. He was appointed as a Supreme Court judge in 2017. He ruled the controversial triple-talaq<\/em> case.<\/p>\n Justice Ashok Bhushan<\/strong> \u2013 He started his career in 1979 in Allahabad High Court and served as the standing counsel of various organisations and institutes.
