In the revised system, a passenger has to pay Rs. 5 for a distance of 2 km (the earlier limit was 5 km). For travelling 5 km, the charge will be Rs. 10. Thereafter, an additional charge of Rs. 5 would be levied for travelling every 5 km. The maximum fare has been fixed at Rs. 25 for travelling 25 km and above.<\/p>\n<p>According to a Metro spokesperson, other than the three stations Noapara, Dum Dum and Belgachhia \u2013 which are more than two kilometres from each other \u2013 passengers will still pay Rs. 5 for travelling from one station to the next. She said the fare is being increased to provide better facilities to passengers.
