Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yodi Adityanath has said that \u201crevenge will be taken\u201d against all those involved in arson after being identified from CCTV footage. He said that their properties\u00a0will be seized and auctioned to compensate\u00a0for the losses in public properties.<\/p>\n
A large number of protesters were detained by police across\u00a0the country yesterday from different states for protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). In many places such as Lucknow, Mengaluru there was violence, leading to deaths of three persons. Two of these were in Mengaluru and one in Lucknow. However, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police OP Singh claimed it was unlikely that the person who died in Lucknow died due to a bullet injury.<\/p>\n
Reacting to the violence, Adityanath said: \u201cRevenge will be taken against these people by seizing their properties\u201d. He said \u201cThese types of antisocial and anarchist moves will never be tolerated\u201d.<\/p>\n
Adityanath, who runs the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh, alleged that the opposition parties were misleading people about the CAA.
