Bharatiya Janata Party\u2019s Union Minister for state Babul Supriyo has condemned the party\u2019s West Bengal president Dilip Ghosh\u2019s comment on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protesters. Supriyo has called Ghosh \u201cirresponsible\u201d.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Ghosh in a public rally in Nadia district said that those involved in damaging public property should be \u201cshot\u201d like they were in BJP-ruled states<\/span><\/a>. He rued that the Mamata Banerjee government had not aimed a single bullet at the shaitans<\/em> doing the same in Bengal.<\/p>\n

In a tweet on Monday, Supriyo wrote, \u201cBJP, as a party has nothing to do with what a DIlipGhosh may hv said\u2022It is a figment of his imagination & BJP Govts in UP, Assam hv NEVER EVER resorted to shooting people for whatever reason whatsoever\u2022Very irresponsible of DilipDa to hv said what he said.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ghosh had also said that \u201cour governments in Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Karnataka have shot these people like dogs.\u201d He was saying that this was the most appropriate thing to do with the CAA protesters, who had gone on a rampage and destroyed public property in December 2019.<\/p>\n

However, Ghosh reiterated what he had said earlier. Following Supriyo\u2019s statement, he reacted saying, \u201cPeople will speak differently on the issue as per their own understanding. I have said what our government has done (in other states) and we will act (in West Bengal) in the same way if the need arises.\u201d<\/p>\n

Leaders from other political parties have also condemned Ghosh for his remark, including Congress leader Dinesh Gundu Rao and Sujan Chakraborty from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) among others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
