Jawaharlal Nehru University Students\u2019 Union (JNUSU) president Aishe Ghosh will lead a rally covering four kilometres in Durgapur on Wednesday to protest the \u201csaffronisation of education\u201d by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).<\/p>\n
She will be assisted by senior district leaders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and Students\u2019 Federation of India (SFI).<\/p>\n
Ghosh, who has come to the forefront of national politics following the attack on her allegedly by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) members on JNU students, targeting the Left union students in particular, will deliver a speech that the Left parties hope, will inspire the young generation. Aishe has been lauded by many for her courage \u2013 especially as she refused to be afraid or back out despite facing an attack with iron rods that she said could have killed her. The rally is scheduled to start at 5 pm in Durgapur on Wednesday.
\nPolice though, have not yet granted permission for the rally as another rally will be held at around 2 pm in Durgapur by chief minister Mamata Banerjee opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR). However, the Left leaders are hopeful that permission will be granted for their rally.
\nAishe Ghosh will also be part of two rallies of the SFI in Kolkata and Howrah on Thursday and Friday opposing the CAA. She will take part in a seminar in Calcutta University after her rally on Thursday. On Friday, she will hold a meeting at Jadavpur University supporting the SFI candidates in the university\u2019s upcoming students\u2019 election. On that day, she will also attend a students\u2019 union seminar at Presidency University in Kolkata.
\nThe Left parties will also hold a protest on February 27 at Esplanade against the disinvestment of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC). The chairman of Left Front in the state, Biman Bose said that the Left parties will continue their protests against the Central and state polices.<\/p>\n
