State-run oil company Indian Oil Coproration (IOC) increased the prices of its non-subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Wednesday. The price hike will be effective in four metros \u2013 Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.
\nThe new prices in these cities are as follows \u2013 Kolkata: Rs 896, Delhi: Rs 858.50, Mumbai: Rs 829.50 and Chennai: Rs 881. The earlier prices in these metros were Rs 747, Rs 714, Rs 684.50 and Rs 734 respectively (the hike in price is Rs 149 in Kolkata, Rs 144.50 in Delhi, Rs 145 in Mumbai and Rs 147 in Chennai).
\nThis is the sixth time in a row that the prices of LPG was raised in the past few months. The prices were last increased by over Rs. 19 in August last year.
\nCurrently, the Centre provides subsidy on 12 cylinders of 14.2 kg per household annually. Additional purchases have to be made at the market price.
