Kafeel Khan, the paediatrician who was earlier working at Baba Raghav Das Medical College and Hospital in Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, has been charged under National Security Act by the state government for allegedly making \u201cinflammatory comments\u201d. The comments were allegedly made by him at a protest meet against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Aligarh Muslim University on December 12, 2019.<\/p>\n
A first information report (FIR) was filed against him, mentioning that he had made some comments in his speech against Union Home Minister Amit Shah and schools run by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Charges were filed against him for promoting enmity between different religious groups under Section 153-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).<\/p>\n
He was arrested for his remarks on January 29 and was granted bail by a court in Aligarh on Monday. However, he has yet to be released from jail as he has been booked under the said Act. His family has said that he was being deliberately targeted by the state government.<\/p>\n
Kafeel Khan was earlier charged with the death of 63 children in 2017 due to \u201cmedical negligence\u201d, but he was later acquitted of all charges after an inquiry last year.
