The Congress on Thursday submitted a memorandum before President Ram Nath Kovind on the Delhi violence and demanded the removal of Union Home Minister Amit Shah for “gross ineptitude, abdication of duty and his inability to contain the situation.”<\/div>\n
A delegation led by Congress president Sonia Gandhi submitted the memorandum before the President.
\nThe Congress alleged that the Central and the state government in Delhi remained “mute spectators” instead of taking “active steps to remove, to remedy of to defuse the situation”.
\nThirty four persons have been killed and over 200 injured in the violence that erupted in Delhi since Sunday apparently over the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
\n“Rashtrapati Ji you are given the highest possible responsibility under the Constitution of India to act as the conscience keeper of this Government and to remind it of its Constitutional duty and the pillars of Raj Dharma, by which any just government must abide,” the memorandum read.<\/div>\n
On Wednesday, Congress president Sonia Gandhi had demanded answers from Shah regarding police “inaction” in Delhi violence and called for his resignation.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
