Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday accused West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee of \u201ctriggering riots\u201d and \u201cburning trains\u201d in a bid to oppose the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).<\/p>\n

He said this at a rally in Kolkata prior to which Bharatiya Janata Party supporters were spotted raising \u201cgoli maaro<\/em>\u201d (shoot them) slogans. Hundreds of supporters of the Left Front and the Congress protested against Shah outside the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, holding black flags and posters against the CAA.<\/p>\n

Shah launched in Kolkata, the party\u2019s campaign for the coming municipal elections. His comments in Kolkata were made under the backdrop of the Delhi violence in which over 40 persons were killed and over 200 persons injured.<\/p>\n

At the rally held in the Shahid Minar ground, Shah asked, \u201cI want to ask Mamata didi, why are you hurting the interests of our refugees? Refugees are being misled. Hindus who fled the neighbouring countries were threatened\u2026 should they not get citizenship?\u201d He reiterated that no one would lose citizenship because of the Act. \u201cThe Opposition is terrorising minorities,\u201d he alleged.<\/p>\n

Shah claimed the BJP will form the next government in the state, winning over two-thirds majority in the 2021 Assembly elections. \u201cMamata-ji, just wait\u2026\u201d he said. \u201cThe Sonar Bangla will not be formed under Mamata di\u2026 bring the BJP,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
