Eleven family members of the second Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) patient from Kolkata have been taken to the isolation centre under West Bengal government at Rajarhat, to be kept under strict observation of doctors. The second case in Kolkata was detected late on Thursday night. The 22-year-old man had returned from London on March 13 without any symptoms but developed some over the past few days. He got admitted to Beliaghata Infectious Diseases Hospital on March 19 and tested positive.<\/p>\n

The young man lives in a joint family in two adjoining flats in Kolkata’s Ballygunge with his parents, brother, uncle, aunt, grandparents and three cousins. Along with the ten members of the family, the household help who lives with them has also been taken to the quarantine facility at Rajarhat.<\/p>\n

Since the young man had been advised home quarantine, he was supposed to be home in strict isolation. However, since he had returned on March 13 and had been admitted on March 19, a considerable amount of time had been spent perhaps coming in contact with other people. Doctors and the state administration are trying to probe whether he had followed the quarantine guidelines, and are trying to locate those who may have come in contact with him. The parents and the elderly grandparents are particularly vulnerable because of their age. That’s why the state administration didn’t want to take chances and promptly got them isolated at the state facility under strict supervision of doctors.
