The Kolkata headquartered Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) recently got the nod from Defence Ministry to manufacture the protective shields.<\/p>\n<p>The face shields will guard a person\u2019s nose, mouth and ears. Currently, the shields are being produced only in Dum Dum Ordnance Factory in the eastern region. Other places in the country where these shields are being made are Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh and Chandrapur in Maharashtra.<\/p>\n<p>The face shields are made of unbreakable material which can survive temperatures from -20\u00b0C to 80\u00b0C. They can also be washed with sanitisers and reused. The shields have already been distributed to healthcare personnel in Kolkata\u2019s RG Kar Hospital and ESI Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Various ordnance factories are making personal protective equipment (PPE), masks, sanitisers and ventilators. They are being made in five ordnance factories in the country including the ones in Kanpur, Ghaziabad and Chennai.
