Actors Dipankar De, Bharat Kaul join Trinamool Congress
Singer Rashid Khan’s daughter Shaona Khan & Bengali serial actor Lovely Mitra also joined the party.
Actors Dipankar De and Bharat Kaul joined the Trinamool Congress in presence of cabinet minister Bratya Basu at the Trinamool Bhavan in Kolkata on Friday. Indian classical musician Rashid Khan’s daughter Shaona Khan and Bengali serial actor Lovely Mitra also joined the Trinamool today.
“Many young persons want to join the Trinamool Congress in different districts. Some people are joining the party here — at the Kolkata office, while there are many joining the party in various parts of the state,” Basu said.
The state minister added that the Centre is putting pressure on celebrities across the country on the issue of the farmers’ movement to indicate that they are “supporting the government” but in reality this support is being created “at gunpoint”. “Only here in Bengal are people free to express themselves without feeling any pressure from the government,” Basu said.
