The Election Commission is likely to announce Assembly election dates for five states – Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry – today. Elections are due in these states in April-May 2021.
Announcement of election dates by the EC means the model code of conduct coming into effect.
This is the first major elections to be held in the country amidst COVID-19 pandemic, after the Bihar Assembly elections last year.
