Uttar Pradesh’s Alok Mishra who secured seventh position in class X board examination got a cheque from the state chief minister Yogi Adityanath. It bounced and Mishra had to pay a penalty.
After he secured 93.5 per cent in the board examinations, the UP chief minister felicitated him and gifted him a cheque for Rs. 1 lakh in Lucknow on May 29. On depositing the cheque in the bank on June 5, the boy’s parents learnt that the cheque had bounced, following which they were charged a penalty.
Barabanki’s District Inspector of Schools, Raj Kumar Yadav, who had signed the cheque, said that a mismatch of signature was reason for the cheque bouncing. He said a fresh cheque was issued to the student.
