The official of the home ministry has, on the basis of this complaint, asked the Congress president to give a “factual” respone. Subramaniam Swamy had brought up this issue in 2015, in a complaint to the Ethics Committee of the Parliament. Rahul Gandhi in his reply had denied the allegation made and had accused the complainant of misleading the nation.

Reacting to the complaint filed and the government’s response, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said “They can do whatever they want, but they will lose the election”.
