There is a slight nip in the air already, especially after Saturday and Sunday’s cyclone.
Temperature at night in the coming two to three days may dip by 2-3 °C starting Wednesday, according to the Alipore weather office.
The nights will be a bit chilly with temperature remaining below 20 °C in Kolkata and adjoining districts of south Bengal. The days will have moderate temperature, said officials.
Such conditions will prevail unless any depression or low-pressure zone forms in the coming few days. The weather will remain mostly dry in large parts of West Bengal. Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri may, however, receive a little rainfall due to local climatic conditions.
In some south Bengal districts, night temperatures have already started falling below 20 °C. Temperature in such places may fall further.
Dry weather is known to help the entry of cold air while the presence of moisture in the air is known to hinder it. The recent cyclonic storm Bulbul that hit the state a few days ago has helped lower the moisture content in air thus paving the way for winter-like conditions.
The mornings have already started to feel cold. The minimum temperature in the coming days may be well below 20 °C if other conditions remains normal.
