The minimum temperature in Kolkata will rise from Friday again due to the formation of cyclone Pawan in the Arabian Sea, weather officials have said.
Winter has already been delayed this year due to the repeated formation of western and north-western disturbances which have been absorbing the cold air that could have caused the drop in temperature and led to the arrival of winter.
As the disturbances had slowed down a bit, the cold north-westerly wind could enter the state earlier this week resulting in a drop of temperature. The temperature had started dropping from Tuesday and went down to 15.9°C on Thursday. Cold air had started blowing leading to the development of winter-like conditions in the city. However, the minimum temperature will rise to around 17°C on Friday and will settle at around 20°C during the weekend due to the cyclone formation, the weather office said.
