Shiv Sena to fight alone in 2019

The Shiv Sena on Wednesday announced the party will not go for any alliance with the Bharatiya Janaata Party (BJP), and contest in next year’s general election on its own.

Despite facing defeat in recently-held Palghar by-election, Shiv Sena in its mouthpiece “Saamana” has said that unlike BJP, they did not need a ‘poster boy’ (aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi) and they could fight on their own. Also, Shiv Sena criticised BJP’s “Sampark for Samarthan” (contact for support) initiative, saying BJP had lost all connect with the common people.

The party mouthpiece took the example of Telugu Desam Party’s exit from BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to claim that not only Shiv Sena but several other parties who are allied with the BJP were clearly unhappy with them.
