Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be in West Bengal on a three-day visit between January 12 and 14. It is also learnt that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to be in the state in mid-February.
With the Assembly elections in West Bengal scheduled just four months away, national BJP leaders from the top are coming down to the state often, indicating how important the coming elections are for the party. BJP, which won 18 out of the 42 Lok Sabha seats in 2019, is looking at wresting power in the coming Assembly polls from the ruling Trinamool Congress.
Shah had visited Bengal earlier in November and then again in December (last week), and another visit is scheduled in January. BJP leaders in the state have said that Shah wants to visit Bengal every month till the elections, and more visits are likely closer to the elections.
