Artist Suvaprasanna interrogated by EB in Saradha probe

Artist Suvaprasanna is being interrogated today by the Enforcement Branch (ED) in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam probe. The artist reached the ED office in Salt Lake in the morning.

On an earlier occasion, he had been interrogated by another central investigating agency, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with probe for the same chit fund scam.

Both central agencies are currently probing the Saradha and Rose Valley chit fund scams and a number of people have been interrogated in this connection.

Suvaprasanna was owner of a television channel which had been subsequently sold off. This television channel, said to have been making losses, was purchased by the Saradha group. The agencies probing the case are trying to find out what led to the Saradha group purchase a channel that was incurring losses.

Bengali film actors Prasenjit Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta, Trinamool leaders Madan Mitra and Satabdi Roy, former Trinamool Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh, businessman Shibaji Panja, former CPIM leader Lakshman Seth are among those who have been interrogated by the two agencies already. Some may be interrogated again.

Last week, Trinamool Congress MP Satabdi Roy had written to the ED authorities last week mentioning that she would like to return Rs 29 lakh that she had received from Saradha. Earlier, another movie star and Trinamool Congress MP Mithun Chakraborty, had returned the money he had received from the chit fund company.

Sources said that the ED officers have come across several inputs after interrogating Rose Valley owner Gautam Kundu in prison and the series of summons have been issued to various people.
