Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee in Shantiniketan on Friday

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and India Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Banga Bhawan, a library and museum of the Bangladesh War of Liberation, at Shantiniketan on May 25, Friday.

The Bangladesh PM will also attend the convocation ceremony of Viswa Bharati University along with India PM Modi and Mamata Banerjee. Sheikh Hasina will be presented a set of Rabindra Chitrabali by the Vishva Bharati University authorities.

Modi and Hasina will also hold a meeting at Banga Bhavan. There is no confirmation on the discussion agenda, however, it is expected that the issues of Teesta water-sharing, the Rohingya crisis and connectivity between the two countries may figure in the talks. Sheikh Hasina is likely to put greater emphasis on achieving a fruitful result in Teesta water-sharing as it would be considered as a big move before general elections in Bangladesh, scheduled in 2018-end.

Later in the day, Hasina will visit Rabindra Bharati University’s Jorasanko Thakurbari campus and is likely to spend some time in the house where Rabindranath Tagore was born in 1861.

In the evening, Hasina will also have a discussion with representatives of the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Taj Bengal Hotel, Kolkata. She is also expected to attend an iftar party at the same venue.

On the following day, Sheikh Hasina will attend the third convocation ceremony of Kazi Nazrul University at Asansol along with Bengal CM. The Bangladesh Prime Minister will be conferred with an honorary DLitt there.

Later, she will visit Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s house where she will have a look around the museum. She will be gifted a digital copy of Amar Sonar Bangla in Netaji’s own handwriting. She will leave for Bangladesh on Saturday night.
