“Battle for India will be decided in 2024, not in state elections”: Prashant Kishor after BJP’s big win
Kishor referred to PM Modi's comment saying results give a "glimpse of 2024".
Poll strategist Prashant Kishor on Friday said that the “battle for India will be fought and decided in 2024 and not in any state elections”, referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comment yesterday that “2022 results are giving a glimpse of the 2024 outcome” after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won in four out of five state elections.
“Battle for India will be fought and decided in 2024 and not in any state elections. Saheb knows this! Hence this clever attempt to create frenzy around state results to establish a decisive psychological advantage over the opposition. Don’t fall or be a part of this false narrative,” Kishor tweeted on Friday. The same was posted on his Facebook profile.
PM Modi on Thursday had said that the state election results – particularly the Uttar Pradesh results – “give a glimpse” of the outcome of the Lok Sabha polls of 2024. “Many people had said that the fate of the 2019 general election was decided when the 2017 Uttar Pradesh result was declared. All I can say is that the same thought applies now too… the 2024 general election result can be seen in the result of the 2022 UP election,” PM Modi had said at a gathering at the BJP headquarters in Delhi yesterday.
The BJP has won a second term in UP, and won in Uttarkhand, Goa and Manipur. The Aam Admi Party (AAP) won in Punjab, ousting the Congress party.
