Delhi government has decided to use rapid testing method for detecting Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in its containment zones from Sunday, state health minister Satyendra Jain said on Saturday.
The rapid testing method involves pricking one’s finger with needle and the results are obtained in 30 minutes.
The decision comes as the number of containment zones in Delhi increased to 66 on Friday. Six new zones were added to the list of already existing 60 zones on Friday.
The maximum number of containment zones in Delhi are in the South East district (16 zones) followed by West district (11 zones). Any zone with three or more COVID-19 cases are being declared by respective district administration as containment zones in Delhi.
All houses and the entire area in containment zones are being sanitised by the government.
Delhi, which reported 1,707 COVID-19 cases till Saturday afternoon is among COVID-19 hotspots in the country and second only to Maharashtra (3,323) in the number of COVID-19 cases. So far, 72 have recovered in Delhi from COVID-19 while 42 died from it.
