The Supreme Court will announce its verdict on Maharashtra government formation case at around 10:30 am on Tuesday.
The apex court reserved its decision on asking the newly formed government in Maharashtra to prove their majority through a floor test. A floor test is done to prove that the government-forming party has the required numbers to do so.
The floor test was requested by the post poll alliance formed by Congress, Nationalist Congress Party and Shiv Sena who claimed they have the majority to form the government in Maharashtra and not the alliance between BJP and the NCP faction led by Ajit Pawar.
However, the counsels representing the Governor and the newly elected chief minister Devendra Fadnavis have said that a floor test cannot be conducted without electing a Speaker for the house and administering oaths to the newly-elected MLAs.
The court had asked Ajit Pawar to submit his letter to the Maharashtra Governor which contained his claim towards majority for forming government and also the letter written by the Governor inviting Devendra Fadnavis and Pawar to form the government.
