West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said today that she will visit Kharagpur, Kaliagunj and Karimpur to hold programs there in order to personally thank people for the byelection results.
Banerjee’s party – Trinamool Congress – won from all the three seats in the assembly byelections, dealing a major blow to the Bharatiya Janata Party that was hoping to win two of the seats, going by the Lok Sabha poll results held just a few months back.
The win is significant for the Trinamool Congress that is hoping to stage a turnaround in the Assembly elections of 2021. Trinamool Congress leaders say that Bengal’s people will eventually drive out BJP from the state due to their religion-based politics and this byelection results are clearly indicative of that.
Banerjee will start the program from Kharagpur Sadar on December 9. Her party may also hold a rally on December 14 in Karimpur after the CM returns from an industrial meet in Digha.
