Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday slammed the BJP-led government on demonetisation, implementation of the GST (goods and services tax) and creation of jobs in the country.
Singh said that the youth were waiting for the promised two crore jobs. “The employment growth rate has been declining for the past four years,” he said, adding that schemes such as Make in India and Stand Up India were yet to make any meaningful impact on the country’s industrial growth.
“Demonetisation and GST’s hasty implementation has hurt enterprises,” the former PM said. He added that “nothing concrete had been done to bring back the promised billions of dollars allegedly held abroad as black money”.
The former Prime Minister also added that “people are not impressed with the figures that are being put out by the Modi government to justify the creation of large number of jobs.”
