The Alipore Meteorological office predicted light to medium rainfall in parts of north and south Bengal starting Wednesday. Bankura, Purulia, Jhargram and West Midnapore are likely to receive rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm from Wednesday evening.
Parts of south Bengal including Kolkata may receive intermittent rains on Thursday. The districts bordering Jharkhand and Odisha are predicted to receive rainfall till Friday.
The sky is likely to remain partly cloudy on these days with temperature ranging between 20°C and 33°C. However, temperature may dip slightly due to the rains.
Officials of the Met department said that a cyclonic circulation has formed in the region due to collision of easterly and westerly winds. This is accompanied by the entry of moisture from Bay of Bengal leading to cloud formation causing the rain.
