Saridon among 328 combination drugs banned by the government

Painkiller Saridon is among 328 fixed dose combination (FDC) drugs banned by the Centre in order to stop their “irrational use”. The manufacture, marketing, sale of these drugs has been banned by the Union Health Ministry. It includes several common cough syrups, painkillers, cold and flu drugs.

In addition, restriction has been imposed on the dosage and use of six more FCDs.

The decision was taken following the report of Drug Technical Advisory Board (DTAB) that says these 328 drugs pose health risks.
