Rahul Gandhi stands in solidarity with government on Pulwama, says ‘no other discussion’ now

Speaking on the Pulwama attack which claimed the lives of 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama yesterday, Congress president Rahul Gandhi stated that his party stands in solidarity with the government at this time of mourning. The Congress, he said, wouldn’t get into any ‘other discussion’ for the next two days.

Speaking to the media, the Congress president refused to answer any political questions at a time he described to be ‘difficult’ for everyone.

The terror strike on the CRPF convoy on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway on Thursday evening killing 40 soldiers took place after a car bomb carrying 350 kg of explosives dashed into it.

Calling it ‘a time of mourning, a time of sadness, a time of respect’, Rahul Gandhi said that the Congress stood by the government and the jawans. There would be no ‘other conversation’ on the matter, at least for the ‘next couple of days’, he stated. Questions of security lapses would have to wait as it was neither the time nor the place for it, added the Congress president.
