Saurav Ganguly in hospital again; “vital parameters stable” according to hospital
He was taken for a "check-up of his cardiac condition", said hospital authorities.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Saurav Ganguly was taken to a hospital in Kolkata on Wednesday afternoon. Ganguly had undergone angioplasty three weeks ago in Kolkata’s Woodlands Hospital.
The latest development in Ganguly’s health states that he is “stable”. He was seen taking slow steps, stepping down from the vehicle in which he had been taken to the hospital, and walked towards the hospital without anyone’s support. “Sourav Ganguly has come for a check-up of his cardiac condition. There is no change in his parameters since his last hospitalisation and his vital parameters are stable,” hospital officials said. There were initial reports that he had felt discomfort in the chest.
The medical board of the Woodlands Hospital on January 4 had concluded that angioplasty on Ganguly’s other two coronary blockages would be done at a later stage. He was being monitored at home on a daily basis after being discharged. He had been admitted to Kolkata’s Woodlands Hospital three weeks back after he felt dizzy during a workout session at the gym in his house and underwent angioplasty on being diagnosed with three blocked coronary arteries. One stent was inserted to remove the blockage.
During his earlier stay in hospital, there were rumours that Ganguly was under “pressure” though the BCCI president refused to answer such questions during his release. There have been speculations on Saurav Ganguly becoming Bharatiya Janata Party’s face for the chief minister in Bengal, but the former skipper of the Indian cricket team had refused to comment on the matter.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Amit Shah is reported to have inquired about his health and if he needs to be taken to Delhi or Mumbai for treatment.
