The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Saurav Ganguly may be discharged from Woodlands Hospital in a couple of days, hospital authorities said today. Ganguly was admitted to the hospital on Saturday morning after he felt dizzy while working out at the gym in his house.
He underwent angioplasty on Saturday after being diagnosed with three blocked coronary arteries after which one stent was inserted to remove the blockage. Right now, no more stents would be implanted, as per the decision taken by a nine-member medical board. He may have to be admitted to hospital for subsequent treatment after a few weeks. The decision on this will be taken later. Ganguly will be able to go home by Wednesday, but continue to be under doctors’ supervision.
Apart from Dr Saroj Mondal who is heading the medical team, other doctors in the team are Dr Sautik Panda, Dr SB Roy, Dr Bhabotosh Biswas, Dr Palash Kumar and Dr Ashis Patra.
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee visited Saurav Ganguly in the hospital on Saturday. On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Saurav’s wife Dona. On Monday, Union Minister Arunag Thakur visited Ganguly at the hospital.
