Stent procedure likely for Saurav Ganguly today, cardiac surgeon Devi Shetty in Kolkata
His condition is said to be stable.
Renowned cardiac surgeon Dr Devi Shetty arrived in Kolkata on Thursday morning and visited the hospital where Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Saurav Ganguly was admitted yesterday.
Ganguly was admitted to the private hospital on Wednesday after he reportedly complained of discomfort in the chest. He has been undergoing various tests since he was admitted to the hospital, and may undergo a stenting procedure later in the day through angioplasty procedure. It will be done by Dr Aftab Khan in presence of Dr Devi Shetty, along with Dr Saptarshi Basu and Dr Saroj Mondal. His health condition is stated to be “stable”.
West Bengal chief minister, Mamata Banerjee called to check on Ganguly’s health and is most likely to visit him soon.
Ganguly had undergone angioplasty three weeks ago in Kolkata’s Woodlands Hospital. The medical board of the Woodlands Hospital on January 4 had concluded that angioplasty on Ganguly’s other two coronary blockages would be done at a later stage. He was being monitored at home on a daily basis after being discharged. He had been admitted to Woodlands Hospital at that time after he felt dizzy during a workout session at the gym in his house.
