A 64-year old person died in Maharashtra from Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Tuesday, making it the third death in the country from COVID-19. The person was admitted in Mumbai’s Kasturba hospital. The death is yet to be officially notified. There are currently 125 positive cases in India.
This is the first death in Maharashtra from COVID-19. Earlier, a 76-year old man from Karnataka’s Kalburgi and a 68-year old woman from Delhi died from COVID-19.
Maharashtra has the maximum number of positive COVID-19 cases in the country at 39. The state government has issued Section 144 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) to prevent gatherings in Nagpur, Nasik and parts of Mumbai. The government has also announced a fund of Rs. 45 crore to districts for treating cases and various facilities.
