Early trends in West Bengal showed leads for some of the heavyweight candidates such as Trinamool Congress’ Abhishek Banerjee, Sudip Bandopadhyay, Satabdi Roy.
Abhishek Banerjee had suffered an initial setback as he was trailing behind the BJP in the first round. Later, he made up for the losses and was found leading by 7,000 votes.
South Kolkata constituency Trinamool Congress candidate Mala Roy and Jadavpur’s Trinamool Congress candidate Mimi Chakraborty were also leading.
The BJP’s candidates Arjun Singh and Shantanu Thakur were leading from Barrackpore and Bongaon respectively. Babul Supriyo was leading by 24,000 votes from Asansol, leaving Trinamool Congress’ Moon Moon Sen way behind.
The Congress’ Adhur Chowdhury was also leading.
