They have been suspended for the entire winter session of the Parliament.
Twelve Opposition members of Parliament (MPs) have been suspended for the entire winter session of the Parliament – that started today – for violent behaviour during the earlier, monsoon session.
The MPs to be suspended includes Trinamool Congress’ Dola Sen and Shanta Chhetri among others. Also suspended were Shiv Sena’s Priyanka Chaturvedi and Anil Desai, the CPM’s Elamaram Kareen and six Congress leaders.
News reports quoted a note that read that these MPs had willingly obstructed the business of the house through their “unprecedented acts of misconduct, contemptuous, violent and unruly behaviour and intentional attacks on the security personnel” on the last day of the monsoon season.
