Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh summoned by the ED
Ghosh said he has always cooperated with the investigators, and will be present for questioning.
Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh has been summoned by the central government agency, Enforcement Directorate (ED). The ED is a law enforcement and economic intelligence agency in charge of enforcing economic laws and fighting economic crime in the country. Ghosh has been called in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam to be present in the CGO complex Salt Lake on Tuesday at 11 AM.
Ghosh, a journalist-turned-politician, who was the party’s Rajya Sabha MP, was arrested by the Mamata Banerjee-constituted special investigation team (SIT) seven years ago. He was also suspended for six years for publicly criticising the party. Ghosh spent 34 months in jails, and in the custody of the state police and the CBI. He was granted bail in October 2016.
Following the summons, Ghosh said that he has always cooperated with the ED and has been present for questioning whenever he has been called by the agency officers.
