People were shocked and shuddered to find 15 dead puppies inside a plastic bag on Sunday afternoon outside the NRS Medical College campus on Sunday afternoon. While 16 puppies were found inside the plastic bag, only one has survived and the other 15 were dead.
Police were informed by the local people. It is suspected that the puppies were poisoned, as some food too was found inside the packet. Whether or not a hospital staff was involved in the criminal act, is also being looked into.
Animal activists rushed to the spot after news spread and demanded forensic tests to confirm the cause of death. A complaint has been filed at Entally police station. Post Mortem of the bodies will be done at Barasat to ascertain the cause of the death.
According to some eyewitness reports, two women – who have not yet been identified – were seen dumping the bags in front of the hospital. Police will check the CCTV footages in the neighbouring areas to confirm this and find out more about who dumped the bags in front of the hospital.
