Buzz around Brigade: CPI(M) uses unique social media interface ahead of Feb 28 meeting

Videos, sketches, posters and other creatives invited from ordinary party supporters

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) is creating a buzz on social media for responses from its party members and loyal supporters for the upcoming meeting in Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground on February 28. The annual meeting holds sentimental value for thousands of followers across the state.

The CPI(M) is using the digital platform to connect with people asking them to share graphics, poems, drawings and posters portraying the Brigade meeting. This time, ahead of the Assembly elections, the meeting is all the more important for the party to gain its lost ground. A poster is being circulated by the CPI(M) on social media to draw in more people to the event by making it interactive.

This initiative also involves asking people to share their fond memories of the earlier Brigade meetings. Those who wish to, can send one-minute videos explaining their reasons to join the party’s huge public meeting. This will help them to relive the old moments besides bringing the lost attention back into the limelight. Creating the #PeoplesBrigade on social media, the party is wooing people to be part of the event and reach out to others through attractive creatives. These would eventually be shared on the party’s Facebook, Twitter pages and YouTube channel.
