Trinamool to project itself in a new light?
Posters of a “new Trinamool Congress” coming up within the next six months were seen in various parts of Kolkata on Tuesday, leading to speculations about what this could mean.
The said posters – seen in south Kolkata – said that a new Trinamool Congress will be there within the next six months. The posters also said that this new Trinamool will be just the kind of party that people want. The posters have the picture of Trinamool Congress’ national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee.
The arrests of senior party leaders – Partha Chatterjee by the Enforcement Directorate and Anubrata Mondal by the Central Bureau of Investigation – have led to various rumours within the party and beyond. This is primarily about how and whether it would be possible to shed off the negative image that such arrests have caused to Bengal’s ruling party. There are also speculations on whether there exists any rift between Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee.
However, insiders say that the posters focus on how the party will project itself to the people of Bengal in a new light in the coming days and showcause itself as a party that has zero tolerance towards corruption and will work professionally.
