Ballygunge bypoll: Trinamool’s EC complaint against Suvendu Adhikari for “threatening” police officers
Complaint on an incident of March 28.
Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh has filed a complaint with the Election Commission alleging that Bharatiya Janata Party leader Suvendu Adhikari had threatened police officers in connection with a campaign for the Ballygunge Assembly seat where byelections are scheduled shortly.
In a two-page letter on behalf of the Trinamool Congress, written to the chief electoral officer, Ghosh said that Adhikari had threatened police officers and sought action against him. Ghosh wrote that on March 28, Adhikari had gone to Rabindra Sarovar police station in connection with the Ballygunge byelection. There, Adhikari had allegedly threatened police officers on duty, telling them they would be transferred or some action taken against them. He was allegedly bragging about wielding power, before BJP workers, according to the complaint.
Trinamool Congress has appealed to the EC to take action against Adhikari, and said that measures should be taken to ensure peaceful polling process on the day of the bypoll.
