Amon Nelson Singh – “self proclaimed chairperson of Kangleipak Communist Party (Military Council Progressive) – was arrested by the Kolkata Police’s Special Task Force in the city. A resident of Manipur’s Lamlai, is also known as Chingkhei Khuman and Maheikhomba Meitei.

The KCP is a banned organisation in India. In 2017, some KCP members were arrested in connection with dacoity in a jewellery shop in Kolkata. According to the police, why Amon Nelson Singh had come to Kolkata is now under investigation. “He has so far confessed that he had extorted money from a number of people in Manipur,” an officer said.

A 9 mm pistol, three ammunition and two 7 mm pistols were found in his possession. He has been charged under the Arms Act.
