Gautam Gambhir has 2 voter IDs: alleges AAP candidate Atishi, files complaint

Aam Aadmi Party candidate from East Delhi, Atishi, has filed a complaint against her rival contestant from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), former cricketer Gautam Gambhir, alleging that the latter has two voter IDs in two separate parts of Delhi.

She has filed a criminal complaint against Gambhir, and later tweeted about it. Ms Atishi said that Gautam Gambhir was a registered voter in Delhi’s Karol Bagh and Rajinder Nagar, both under the Central Delhi Lok Sabha seat.

In a series of tweets, she wrote that “Under Section 17, read with Section 31, false declaration in the matter of electoral rolls is punishable with jail time of up to one year.”

Gambhir hasn’t reacted so far. The former Indian national cricketer joined BJP earlier this month and was named the party’s East Delhi candidate. East Delhi, along with five other seats in the capital will vote on May 12.

Ms Atishi has been Delhi’s education minister Manish Sisodia’s adviser till a year ago, when she was asked to contest the polls from East Delhi. She studied at Oxford University and Delhi’s St Stephens.
