Watch video: Bengali actors, directors, writers say “Kagoj amra dyakhabo na”, protesting CAA, NPR, NRC

In a Bengali version of Varun Grover’s protest poem Hum Kaagaz Nahi Dikhayende, several Bengali actors, writers, directors, singers have come together to say, kagoj amra dyakhabo na (we won’t show our documents).

The lines have come to signify defiance against the Central government’s imposition of the National Register of Citizens, the Citizenship Amendment Act and the National Population Register. Citizens across the country have been protesting the Centre’s decision to implement the CAA, NPR and the NRC. The protests are being held to point out that the CAA differentiates people on the basis of religion and therefore goes against the spirit of the Constitution,

The video shows Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Suman Mukhopadhyay, Dhritiman Chattopadhyay, Kankona Sen Sharma, Swastika Mukherjee, Tilottama Shome, Monoranjan Byapari Rupam Islam among others.
